The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics

Working closely with the Dole Institute Director, Richard Norton Smith, Split Rock Studios created exhibits to chronicle the accomplishments of Senator Robert Dole from his boyhood in Russell, Kansas, through the decades of service to his country.

Twenty-one exhibit cases radiate from two large stained glass windows designed by Split Rock Studios – one of which is the largest stained glass American flag in the world.  Five video programs interpret key experiences in Dole’s life, including a stunning multi-screen video of how the legislative process works shown beneath a large-scale replica of the Capitol dome in Washington D.C. Exhibits also include a Memorial Wall honoring Kansas WWII veterans and a three-dimensional marquee of Russell’s Dream Movie Theater – a place often frequented by the young Bob Dole.  Also on display are two columns retrieved from the World Trade Center and Dole’s uniform and medals from WWII.
