Pierre, South Dakota Exhibit Size: 8,000 square feet Services Performed: Exhibit Design, Exhibit Fabrication, Mural Painting, Audiovisual Production, and Installation (including artifact mounting) Split Rock Studios developed two major exhibits for the new South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center at the state capital. This exhibit interprets the history of South Dakota with a special emphasis on the Lakota culture. Split Rock made extensive use of the museum’s excellent Plains Indian artifact collection. We helped recreate prairie life with an original hand-painted 105-foot diorama. This historically accurate scene includes a walk-through tipi, as well as human and animal sculptures. In addition, we designed and produced laser disc video interactive exhibits, a full-size reconstruction of a homesteader’s sod house, a prairie terrain platform, a walk-through gold mine and a running water sluice-way.
