Split Rock Studios developed two major exhibits for the new South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center at the state capital.
This exhibit interprets the history of South Dakota with a special emphasis on the Lakota culture. Split Rock made extensive use of the museums excellent Plains Indian artifact collection. We helped recreate prairie life with an original hand-painted 105-foot diorama. This historically accurate scene includes a walk-through tipi, as well as human and animal sculptures. In addition, we designed and produced laser disc video interactive exhibits, a full-size reconstruction of a homesteaders sod house, a prairie terrain platform, a walk-through gold mine and a running water sluice-way.
