Mitchell, South Dakota Exhibit Size: 2,500 square feet Services Performed: Exhibit design, Exhibit Development, Artifact Mounting, Graphic Production, Casework, Installation The George McGovern Center at Dakota Wesleyan University opened to great fanfare with many influential politicians, all friends of George, in attendance. The center celebrates the life of the honorable liberal senator, from his humble rural roots to his legacy of leadership and hope. At a glance, visitors can see that this is not a typical museum exhibit. Theatrical lighting and geometric shapes frame the story within the space. Split Rock worked directly with George and Eleanor to tell the story as accurately as possible. Their life is told primarily through seven video monitors with compelling and dramatic movies narrated by George himself. Visitors can walk through staged diorama scenes from the life and career of George McGovern.
