An enormous oak tree greets visitors upon entering the Janet Huckabee Nature Center. Named for the current governors wife, the nature center contains real and crafted plants and sculpted and taxidermied animals, including one turkey shot by Janet Huckabee herself. Hand-painted murals complete the oak forest setting.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission appointed Split Rock Studios to build exhibits for this center that celebrates the beauty of the Arkansas River Valley, nestled between the mountains. An outdoor recirculating stream provides habitat to a family of ducks. Interactive displays allow visitors to learn more about the different animals and habitats of the Ozarks. Elsewhere in the exhibit visitors can explore a 1,700 gallon aquarium and numerous live animal displays.
