The theme of the exhibits is Seeing the Unseen. Split Rock worked closely with the client to create exhibits that introduce visitors to the hidden wonders of the Refuge.
The realistic exhibits we designed depict the Refuges unique mangrove islands and uplands habitats, and help visitors learn to see the animals and plants of the Refuge ecosystems.
An exhibit modeled after the studio of famed editorial cartoonist Ding Darling introduces visitors to the Refuges namesake and his important contributions to wildlife preservation and conservation.
A room of hands-on exhibits includes the Build-A-Bird puzzle and an etched-glass rubbing table where visitors can make rubbings of Ding Darling cartoons and illustrations of Sanibel wildlife. These exhibits are magnets for kids and adults alike.
